are your effects all in movieclips? or are they all on the timeline as individual movieclips per frame?
if you are going to get into the habit of making a flash movie and later converting it to a movie file then you need to start doing your effects differently. I exported my Frost'D file to avi no problem . on playback it does skip because the file is without compression, which is the problem of the computer not the file. from there I use soreson squeeze to compress it into a smaller mov file. get into the habbit of moviecliping each effect you have on the timeline. it isn't as tedious as it sounds.
swf2avi and any other capture device will always drop frames if you have an effects/filter heavy scene, and you really cant rely on them,

did u use any actionscript in ur movie (like a preloader or somethin)? cuz it wont convert properly(if at all) if there is. Ur avi should work too if no actionscript is found.
yeah my advice is along the lines of MC, if you know you have a project where you are going to be formatting for tv and other media that will require a port into those file formats, your best bet is to design your work to be the most compatible with that conversion as opposed to just sticking with how you normally do it and then assuming youll be able to work it out when its all done.
swf2avi works ok. Ive had frame droppages enough to annoy me, but im super critical about my shit.
In general i try and avoid all sort of converting.. its a nightmare anytime ive had to do it and ive learned to avoid any clients that are going to want me to do that............

Flashants Swf to video converter is damn fine at exporting swf to video. My jaw dropped when I used it to convert my latest film. It converts to AVI but you can find converters that change avi to quicktime.
I'll check it out, but during filter heavy scenes is there any framsekipping?
